Travel Securely this Summer
Many of us will be traveling abroad this year, whether to visit friends and family or for a holiday.
As a civil servant, you may be of interest to threat actors.
Stay informed about the latest international developments before you travel, remain vigilant, and take action on these key points:
Travel advice
Check the publicly available FCDO travel advice.
This will help you understand the travel risks in each country and learn how to stay safe, including the latest safety and security information and travel warnings.
Taking IT abroad
- Do not take official IT overseas without checking your departmental policies, as it may not be possible to take devices to some countries
- Check the Overseas security guidance (sign-in required) information on maintaining security abroad, such as on personal electronic devices (PEDs)
- If possible, leave your official IT at home – After all, you are on holiday
If you notice any suspicious or unusual activity while you are away, contact your departmental security team with your concerns.
