By combining the Government Digital Service’s (GDS) free Vulnerability Monitoring Service (VMS) and SIEM Integration, you’ll gain regular vulnerability data delivered directly into your security ecosystem.
The VMS is now available in MyNCSC
The VMS is now available to access in MyNCSC, where you can view your VMS findings along with other Active Cyber Defence (ACD) services including DNS Check and Early Warning.
Use your vulnerability data in your SIEM tool
You can receive all the misconfiguration and vulnerability data collected by DNS Check and the VMS directly to your SIEM tool.
How to register for the VMS
The quickest way to register for the VMS is in MyNCSC.
If you do not have the domains in your asset portfolio, select the ‘add new asset’ in the left side bar and you’ll be able to add your domains to the VMS.
If you already have the domains in your asset portfolio, use the tick box to select the domains you’d want to assign and click ‘Edit’ and select ‘Add VMS subscription’.
If you do not want to use MyNCSC, you can still register for the VMS and SIEM integration using our online form.
How to register for SIEM Integration
To register for SIEM Integration, complete our online form. A member of the team will get in touch to help you get set up.
During registration, you’ll be asked if you want to sign up for both SIEM integration and the VMS. If you’re already registered for the VMS, you do not need to select this service on the form.
After you’ve registered
Once registered, GDS will begin monitoring your domains.
If you’ve registered with MyNCSC, you can view your VMS findings in your dashboard along with guidance on how to fix them.
If you’ve registered using our online form, you will not be able to view your VMS findings online but we’ll alert you by email if any critical issues are found, along with guidance on how to fix them.
If you’ve requested SIEM integration, we’ll also contact you to help set it up.
Making changes after registering
If you need to make changes after registering, you can let us know by sending an email to support@domains.gov.uk.
You can make changes to the VMS in MyNCSC.
Changes you might need to make include:
- adding a new domain
- adding or removing members from your organisation
Share your zone files
To make sure we’re monitoring your full attack surface, you should share your zone files with our team.
This lets us keep an eye on all your domains and subdomains, helping ensure nothing is missed and reducing the risk of vulnerabilities going unnoticed.
